Is Gw:en Really the End?
To help in the waiting before Gw:en i've been looking at all the videos and interviews I can find and i've noticed a softening on the status of Gw:en
Back in the PC gamer article they said that Gw:en was the last expansion pack of Gw 1 (my paraphrase)
Then it became the last planned expansion
And then it was called the first expansion.
This implies that Anet are keeping their options open, and I suspect there will be another expansion towards this time next year.

Maybe they'll decide after GW:EN.
if GW:EN sells a lot of copies they might make another? Otherwise, maybe not...

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes,
an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn,
world serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs.
Feed it off an aux speak,, grunt, no, strength,
The ladder starts to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped.
Look at that low playing!
Fine, then.
Uh oh, overflow, population, common food, but it'll do.
Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right - right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

They'll need to add more content if they plan on keeping their user base. I highly doubt EoTN will offer enough content to keep people interested up until GW2 is released.

Gw:EN = 1st expansion
Proph = 1st campaign
Factions = 2nd campaign
Nightfall = 3rd campaign
Proph, Factions, and nightfall are all standalone games but can be linked together for 1 game. Gw:en is the 1st expansion you need to own at least proph, factions, or nightfall to play Gw;en. Thus making Gw:en the 1st expansion of guildwars.

I assume that they decide to do game expansions based on current sales and popularity. I very much doubt that anet has decided themselves if they are going to make an expansion after gwen just yet.
They might have some ideas and such, but I'm guessing they are waiting to see just as much as we are at this point.

There will be no more 'mayor updates'.
But they won't leave bugs and such.
And maybe a couple of things made by aome anet coders in spare time.

THE END IS NEAR!
Unless they want people to keep playing. Then they need to add some stuff. 2 years of the same thing will make this die quick.

Jeff Strain said in an interview that they *might* do another expansion. Even Anet doesn't know for sure.

Do not forget that they are always improving. We had a lot of smal interesting updates, like the favor, the templates, the storage...
I doubt such things would stop... there won't be simply more regions... maybe one area, like ruins of orr, or new God realms... but I doubt anythng else...
It would be greatly apreciated anything else they made, though. They will had mos of the comunity eating in their hands if they made so.
Whatever they do, if they stop the 'updates', people will start losing interest.
For two years, update pages should still go.
And I doubt the balance would stop. They like to change skills once in while.

Well I hope GW:EN will be the end of the storyline but my guess is extra content will show itself between the time we finish GW:EN and Guild Wars 2.
Wether it is free or we pay for it is another story yet to be told.

Not to mention Hard Mode. Because they need to retain the player base to maximize sales of GW2, they almost have to keep adding things to keep interest up.

Yeah they seem pretty keen on getting to Guild Wars two (which is also where they are putting their money) so i dont think they will make another expansion especially with an 08-09 release.
But no it's not the end because Guild Wars will continue on with GW2 ^^

I suspect online-only mission packs. Why else would they be pushing everyone to get GWEN online by offering a mission pack.
